| 1) After you
have seen the film, and before your discussion section, do the readings
listed under “Weekly Schedule.” All the readings are items
you purchased in the College Store or are available on eReserve. the
access code for which is: 3010tp.
2) For each reading, there are discussion
questions included under the webpage entitled “Discussion.”
Provide a short answer to each question and send them by e-mail to the
three discussion leaders for that week. E-mail addresses are in the
College directory. Copy me in on that e-mail. Do this by midnight the
night before the day on which your discussion section meets.
3) Each week three-four students are assigned
the task of leading the discussion for that week. They can organize
how they do that in any way they choose, but they should consider the
comments sent to them by other members of the section. The discussion
leaders task is to get people to discuss the readings and the films,
using the discussion questions as a starting point. Hopefully, the discussion
questions will be answered but the most important thing is to have a
discussion. I will not say anything during the discussion unless I think
something crucial has been overlooked, in which case I may say a few
words at the very end of the session.
Because of Winter Carnival, there are no discussion section meetings
on Friday, February 25th. Consequently, the Thursday discussion section
on February 24th is also cancelled. You should still do the readings
for that week and answer the questions but send me your responses by
Wednesday night, February 23rd. I will deal with the readings in my
Thursday lecture that week.
